Railhawks Hosting Double Header

Credit: AP Online
CARY, N.C. -

The Carolina RailHawks host a 4th of July doubleheader on Thursday July 3rd at WakeMed Soccer Park.

The RailHawks Women (5-4-1) host the Charlotte Lady Eagles (9-1-1) at 4:00 PM in a match that will most likely see the return of UNC and US U-20 forward Casey Nogueira to the lineup.

The RailHawks Men (4-4-5) welcome the 2007 USL-1 Champion Seattle Sounders (4-2-7) to WakeMed Soccer Park for the second time this season in the evening match at 8:00 PM.

A spectacular fireworks display will follow the match.

The evening match is presented by Time Warner Cable and the first 2,500 fans will receive a glow in the dark necklace courtesy of Time Warner Cable of North Carolina.

The RailHawks are offering a special "4 for $44" ticket package with four tickets to both matches, four hotdogs and four drinks (a $124 value) that may be purchased at the LGFCU Box Office by calling 919-859-KICK (5425. Individual tickets ($10, $15 and $20) may also be purchased at the LGFCU Box Office, at all Ticketmaster outlets or by visiting www.carolinarailhawks.com.

"Seattle is a very good team," said RailHawks Head Coach Scott Schweitzer. "They have a proven style of play that warranted very few changes in the past couple of years. It will be a very good game with fireworks both on and off the field."

The last time Seattle visited WakeMed Soccer Park, the RailHawks defeated them 2-1 with a beautiful goal by Connally Edozien and with current Team of the Week honorees, Martin Nuñez, Kupono Low and Chris McClellan exciting the home crowd.

The RailHawks are still undefeated at home in League play and will look to continue the streak.

"We like going to Carolina because Carolina has the nicest natural grass field in the league," said Sounders Head Coach Brian Schmetzer. "I'm not joking; it's like a putting green. It's not hard to motivate my players to play in conditions like that and the trip east is always worthwhile. With that said, it's a tough place to play and Scott always does a good job of getting his team ready."

The Seattle Sounders are coming off a couple of difficult home games that resulted in draws against Miami and Montreal in league games but are hot off a US Open Cup win over Chivas USA last Tuesday night.

The RailHawks will be looking for a win to climb over them in the standings.

The RailHawks will then embark on a road trip that will take them to Minnesota on July 11th and Vancouver on July 13th.

All Carolina RailHawks matches can be seen on www.USLLive.com.

On July 10th the Cary RailHawks U-23 PDL team will host England's Second Division mainstay Burnley FC in an exhibition at WakeMed Soccer Park at 7:30 PM.

The Carolina RailHawks Women return to W-League action the following Saturday, July 12th as they host the Tampa Bay Hellenic.

Tickets for all these events are available at the LGFCU Box Office, by calling 919-859-KICK, at all Ticketmaster outlets or by visiting www.carolinarailhawks.com.
