You know the feeling. Your car is idling at a red light and there are few, if any cars, passing through the green light at the intersection.
You glance at your gas gauge, you glance at the clock on your dash and wonder: "When will this light turn green?"
With gas prices in hanging out around the $4 mark, it's easy to visualize every extra minute your car spends idling in dollar signs.
So it doesn't help when you come across one of those pesky stoplights that seem to drag on longer than necessary.
Don't sit in silence anymore. Tell us about the traffic signals that drive you nuts.
NBC17 will look into some of the most complained about traffic signals and find out whether they're timed appropriately or if traffic engineers could make some adjustments. Some of those traffic signals will be highlighted on air as part of the upcoming "Money Survival Guide" series.
Is there a stoplight in your neighborhood that seems to drag on way too long? Or maybe there's a traffic light that doesn't seem to stay green long enough.
Post your frustrations in the comments section below. Tell your neighbors and colleagues who share in your annoyances to vent here as well. The traffic signals with the most complaints may be featured on NBC17.
If your suggestion is picked, you may even be asked to appear on air talking about the intersection that drives you bonkers.
And don't stop there. If your commute is particularly pesky, tell us your story. All you have to do is click on the orange "share" button at the top of the page.

The traffic signals that annoy me the most are the ones that do not seem to know the time of day or which day of the week it is. Sitting at a light for a minute or two with no traffic in sight on a Saturday or Sunday is very frustrating.

Hi..this is Daggi, just moved from Germany to Apex..
I am confused about the lights for turning right. I learned that I have to stop at red light for a right-turn. But nearly every car turns right although there is a red arrow....??
Could you help me in this matter ? I am confused…

The red light from North Hills Drive turning left onto Lead Mine Road is ridiculous! I have lost years of my life sitting at this light every morning… In fact, I witness several people run it every morning!

Cary pkwy at Chapel Hill Rd. Doesnt matter what direction or time, that is a terrible light.

It’s unfortunate that as gas goes up people start thinking about running red lights and pushing the envelop when the lights are yellow. However, what is even more unfortunate are the cameras at certain Cary stoplights that snap your photo and send you a ticket if you are even a millisecond in the wrong. I am a firm believer in traffic control and safety, yet a majority of the funds raised from these stoplight tickets aren’t even kept here in Cary, or anywhere in the state. It might be easier to swollow a fine if I ran a light and the money would go toward something benefitical to the community around me.

Those stoplight cameras were outlawed in Charlotte!

Worst light in the triangle is the intersection on Bellwood onto Peace\Clark. this light can be over 3 minutes long for just a basic intersection. It is maddening. Here it is on google street view. http://is.gd/FNH

I don’t like obnoxiously long traffic lights either but I usually don’t complain about them...until this past weekend when I hit one that I just about blew a gasket on (yes, pun intended!).
Coming out of the dog park at Carolina Pines park just off Lake Wheeler Road - don’t take Sierra Dr from the park to Lake Wheeler Road instead of the park entrance itself. We sat there for nearly 5 MINUTES...and traffic on Lake Wheeler Road wasn’t THAT bad that it warranted that long of a light.
I’ve experienced others but this one took the cake!
