Help Operation Faith Donate Supplies to Flood Victims

Credit: AP Online
WAKE FOREST, N.C. -

A group of concerned citizens of the Wake Forest area are organizing an effort to collect and deliver badly needed supplies to the flood victims in Illinois.  Please help us spread the word to the entire community: friends, churches, businesses, and organizations.

The use of a truck and driver has been secured to deliver the supplies.  Lowe's Home Improvement on Capital Blvd. in Wake Forest has graciously agreed to allow their parking lot to be used as the drop off location.

We need YOUR help to fill the truck!  We are collecting items such as: cleaning supplies, brooms, mops, trash bags, work gloves, work hats, canned goods, non-perishable food items, bottled water, diapers, personal hygiene items, bed linens, toys, books, new or gently used clothes, etc.  Please be aware that we are NOT prepared to take furniture.  Just think about the things you would need if this disaster happened to YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!

Items will be collected at the Lowe's Home Improvement parking lot on Capital Blvd. on Friday, June 27th from 12:00-8:00 pm.  Please bring your items to the drop-off site packed in sturdy boxes (but not sealed) and labeled with the contents.

Volunteers are also needed on site Friday to help sort and load donations.  If you are interested in volunteering please call 919-556-5418 or simply come to the site anytime between 12:00 and 8:00 pm on Friday, June 27th.

We are working with the Adams County Illinois Chapter of the American Rad Cross.  Donations will be delivered on Sunday, June 29th to Quincy, Illinois.  Quincy is about two hours west of Springfield, Illinois and north of St. Louis.  Quincy is upland from the river and is helping with the families that have been displaced by the flood.

Monetary donations are being accepted as well and will be given to the Adams County Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross.  Checks may be made payable to: American Red Cross - Adams County Chapter.  If you would like to volunteer or have questions, please call Donna at 919-556-5418.

Thank you for your help!
